OxEd

OxEd supports schools, trusts and early years settings to strengthen oracy early and at scale, using evidence-based tools grounded in decades of University of Oxford research.

As the developers of the NELI Programme, funded by the Department for Education and delivered nationally in England, we help give over 50,000 children a year the best start in life.

NELI is the all-in-one oral language toolkit you can trust. Alongside NELI Preschool and NELI Whole Class, the programmes spot and sort language problems early and provide targeted support where it’s needed most. NELI combines a universal language screener, CPD-certified professional development, and a 20-week targeted intervention - giving schools a proven solution to supporting oracy in the early years.

The impact of early language support cannot be understated: large-scale trials show children make up to seven months’ additional progress.

The English-Speaking Union

The English-Speaking Union (ESU) is an educational oracy charity with a mission to equip young people with the communication skills and cross-cultural understanding they need to thrive and build a more collaborative world.

Our respected public speaking, performance and debating competitions encourage students to discuss a wide range of topical issues with an open mind, often with people from very different backgrounds. We help them discover their voice and the agency they can have in their communities, countries and even internationally.

Our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training in oracy equips teachers with the skills to impact thousands more students than we can reach alone. And our cultural exchanges for students and teachers, coupled with our international network of ESUs, build relationships and share ideas around the world.

Poetry by Heart (1)

Poetry By Heart

Poetry By Heart is the nation's premier poetry speaking competition. Founded in 2013, it is poetry's biggest, most inclusive and effective celebration. It is free and open to all pupils in key stages 2 to 5.

It has inspired measurable improvement in the quality of poetry provision in schools. All feedback - from teachers, students, parents - shows that participation is both enjoyable and effective. Teachers highlight greater confidence in performing a poem for others as a learning gain for pupils, alongside the development of skills related to oracy.
